Mercer Island Snaps Ayala's Streak at 20 Sunday, August 7th , 2044 Ft. Polk South left fielder Bartolo Ayala experienced something against the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles he hadn't experienced a while: a hitless game. The Screaming Eagles pitching corps quieted his hot bat and snapped his streak at 20 games, but his teammates picked up the slack to lead the Thunder Hawks to a 5-3 victory at Mercer Island Grounds. "Hey, ain't nothin' bad about a losing a 20-game hitting streak," Ayala joked with reporters after the game. "Now you guys will have to find someone else to bother for stories." In this current campaign Ayala is hitting at a .313 clip with 9 home runs and 41 RBIs. |
