5-Game Suspensions for Gunner-Silva Fight
Thursday, September 1st , 2044
When fights happen, suspensions are not far behind. That axiom was held to be true today when Sioux Falls's Jonathan Gunner and Baton Rouge's Ángel Silva were given a temporary vacation from the game, courtesy of the league commissioner's office.
They both were suspended for 5 games for their actions in a recent ruckus between the two teams. Both benches cleared when Gunner charged Silva.
Both players have accepted their fate and will begin serving their suspensions immediately. Neither would talk to reporters about the confrontation.
Currently Gunner is batting .304 with 7 hits and 1 home run. He has knocked in 2 runs and scored 4 times.
This year Silva has collected 1 save in 4 relief appearances. He has also compiled a 1-1 won-lost mark with a 3.86 ERA and fanned 13 batters in 18.2 innings. Opponents are hitting him at a .253 clip in 2044.
