Cruz Guns Downs 15 Arryns Tuesday, August 2nd , 2044 Everything was working for José Cruz today at Fuller Park. He had the perfect delivery. The ball was moving. The curveball was working. In an unforgettable performance, the 24-year-old Cruz fanned 15 Arryns and sparked the Kent Comets to a 3-0 victory over Lake Erie. He left Arryns hitters mumbling and muttering at the plate. And when he needed a strikeout, he got it. "I don't know if there are many times that I've seen him throw better," said Kent manager Morton Kelly. "His location and command were really something." In addition to collecting 15 strikeouts over 7 innings, Cruz allowed 2 hits and no walks in a superlative outing. "I thought I'd make it easy on the guys today," Cruz said with a smile. This season Cruz has chalked up a 2.38 ERA while ringing up no saves with 1 win and 1 loss. He has made no relief appearances, pitching 34 innings, giving up 19 hits, and holding opponents to a .160 batting average. Cruz has also recorded 64 strikeouts and allowed 13 walks.
