Expos End Basconcillos's Streak
Friday, August 12th , 2044
Pedro Basconcillos, first baseman for the Kingston Mangos, gave it a good try, but his time chasing history came to an end when he went hitless in 4 tries against the Niagara Falls Expos today. Not only did the Expos break his 21-game hitting streak, they also beat Kingston by the score of 2-1.
"Now that the streak has ended, I can admit I'll breathe a bit easier the next time I step up to bat," Basconcillos said, speaking with the media after the game. "It was tough because I put a little pressure on myself. Now that it's over, I will definitely be a little bit looser at the plate."
This season Basconcillos has hit at a .297 clip and produced 29 runs batted in, 2 home runs and 31 runs.
