Hashimoto, Oort Receive 4-Game Suspensions Sunday, July 12th, 2043 The action was hot and heavy at a recent Franklin-Greenport game at Lawmen Ballpark in more ways than one. When tempers flared, both benches emptied and a mild melee ensued. The only thing hurt was a few players' pride. Two of the main figures in the brawl were suspended today by league officials. The Fire Takeichi Hashimoto and Greenport's Steve Oort will each miss 4 games for their roles in the fight. "We do not condone this kind of behavior on the field," the league announcement read. "As such, we believe that this punishment fits the actions taken by these two players. We hope that there will not be a repeat of the incident or else the consequences will be even more severe." So far this year Hashimoto is batting .293 with 10 home runs, 47 RBIs and 19 runs scored. Oort has made 8 relief appearances this year and notched no saves. To date in 17.1 innings he has a 1-1 record, 1.56 ERA with 15 strikeouts and 5 walks. |
