Great Stroke: Kvernoey Gets 5 Hits Saturday, July 11th, 2043 Gareth Kvernoey got the glory and the headlines today, but the Athletic Club KC U-21 left with the win. The Greenport first baseman easily handled the U-21 pitching, going 5-for-6, but his Greenport Harbor Whales came out on the short end of the 5-4 score. Kvernoey told BNN reporters in the postgame interview he would happily trade "three or four" of his hits for a win. "Heck, maybe even all of them," he said with a laugh. "Right now, it just seems like one loss in a long season but who knows what it could mean at the end." Gareth Kvernoey doubled in the 1st, hit an RBI double in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, flied out in the 7th, singled in the 10th and singled in the 12th. So far this season Kvernoey is batting .299 with 1 home run, 15 RBIs and 9 runs scored. He has 35 hits in 117 at-bats, 5 walks and a .341 OBP. Kvernoey has played in 30 games.
