Ortíz Goes on Rampage Against Athletic Club KC Academy
Wednesday, August 19th, 2043
There aren't many who could be pro ballplayers and there are even fewer who could put up 5 hits in a day.
Manuel Ortíz is one of those rare few, as he went 5-for-6 against the Athletic Club KC Academy at KC Academy Field today. The monster effort from the 26-year-old catcher helped the Toledo Saboteurs take the win, 19-1.
"We made some bad pitches and he took advantage of it," said Athletic Club KC Academy manager Kyle Myers. "That's the game, though. Don't make mistakes and you'll win ballgames. Make mistakes and, well, you saw what happened today."
Manuel Ortíz singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, hit an RBI double in the 4th, grounded out in the 5th, singled in the 7th and singled in the 9th.
This year Ortíz has socked 77 hits in 313 at-bats for a .246 average with 4 home runs. He is getting on base at a .315 pace and his totals also include 27 RBIs and 46 runs scored.
