Free-for-All Costs Long and Smith 4-Game Suspensions Wednesday, June 17th, 2043 The league commissioner has issued 4-game suspensions to Guan-xiu Long of Kansas and Robert Smith of Syracuse. The two players were involved in a confrontation during a recent Rainbeaus-Squirrel Monkeys game at Wichita Field and now will miss time because of it. Neither player would comment on the suspensions. A look at his season totals shows Long with 3 home runs, .315 BA, .356 OBP, 26 RBIs and 24 runs scored. Smith has taken the mound for 6 relief appearances this season, nailing down no saves while notching a 2-0 record with a 4.50 ERA. The Syracuse reliever has limited opposing batters to a .236 batting average. |
