Week's Top Player: Syracuse's Shimizu Monday, July 20th, 2043 22-year-old Yoshiki Shimizu made a few Syracuse headlines during this past week as the rookie right fielder proved he could compete at the plate with his high-school idols. He captured the attention of fans, journalists and USPL Triple A officials last week and today took home Player of the Week honors for his effort. He cracked 12 hits in 25 at-bats to put up a .480 average. Shimizu collected 2 home runs, 8 RBIs and scored 6 runs. For the season Shimizu is hitting .358, batted in 37 runs with 8 home runs and 50 runs scored. |
