Gonzáles Goes on Rampage Against Jets
Saturday, July 11th, 2043
5 hits in a game has always been a big milestone in baseball -- 5 hits in a game gets a player's name in the record book, win or lose. Gustavo Gonzáles got his name recorded today, but the Kennesaw Jets picked up the win at Jets Stadium, topping the Monroeville Yinzers, 7-6.

"He bushwhacked us," said winning manager José Vázquez. "We were lucky to come out ahead."

Gonzáles, who is tied for 6th in the SA with a .287 batting average, spoke to reporters in the clubhouse following the game, saying his nerves only set in once he was on the cusp of the milestone.

"I got too much adrenaline going when I realized that this could be a once-in-a-lifetime day," the left fielder said. "I think the coaches could tell I was going to be ready to swing at anything close. That's why my third base coach told me to calm down and wait for a good pitch. That got me back on track."

Gustavo Gonzáles singled in the 1st, struck out in the 2nd, singled in the 5th, flied out in the 7th, grounded out in the 9th, singled in the 12th, singled in the 15th, flied out in the 17th and doubled in the 20th.

In his season totals Gonzáles has 7 home runs and a .287 batting average.
