Billy Goats Squelch Divided Offense in Shutout Win
|
The Colorado Billy Goats picked up a win at Washington Stadium, knocking off the D.C. Divided, 6-0. Starting pitcher Francisco Rivas, who captured player of the game honors, was a big reason why. Rivas, now 4-5, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 1, walking 1, and allowing no earned runs. Magnus Belli recorded his 9th save for Colorado.
Colorado center fielder August Force went deep in the top of the third. His 2-run home run off D.C. pitcher César Sandoval put the Billy Goats in front, 2-0. It was his 10th home run of the season.
"It was a tough night at the plate," said D.C. manager Jonathan Gerth.
Colorado is now 37-35.
