Road Win Lifts Mercer Island to 2-1 Lead in R1
The Mercer Island Screaming Eagles moved to within one game of the Round 2 today, downing the St. Petersburg Thunder on the road at Baby Thunder Dome by a score of 4-3. Screaming Eagles right-hander Pedro Arredondo was named player of the game after a strong outing in which he threw 6 innings allowing 3 runs. The win gives the Screaming Eagles a 2-1 advantage in the best-of-5 PL AA Championship.

Mercer Island used the clutch hitting of Roldão Cintra to capture the win. The designated hitter drilled a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to give the Screaming Eagles the lead, 4-1. For the game, Cintra had 1 single and 1 double in 4 at-bats.

"It's nice to come out on top today," said Cintra.

Game 4 is scheduled for tomorrow at Baby Thunder Dome in St. Petersburg. Slated to start are Greg King for the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles and Lorenzo Carregosa for the the St. Petersburg Thunder.
