Mercer Island Takes 1-0 Series Lead Behind 4 RBIs from C Ollerton
The Mercer Island Screaming Eagles took the first game of the PL AA Championship in dramatic fashion today, topping the St. Petersburg Thunder 7-6 in an extra-inning walk-off win. Screaming Eagles catcher Corey Ollerton was selected player of the game, as he was 1 for 2 with a home run. He drove in 4 runs and scored once.

The game was at a stalemate until right fielder Tony Parra came to bat in the bottom of the 12th. Facing St. Petersburg pitcher James Fitzgerald, he hit a 0-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Mercer Island on top, 7-6.

"If you want to be considered a good team, these are the kind of games you have to win," said Mercer Island manager Jesús Román.

Game 2 is scheduled for tomorrow at Mercer Island Grounds in Mercer Island. The scheduled starters for the game are César Castillo for the St. Petersburg Thunder and Mike Barraza for the the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles.
