Wofford, Virginia Beach Start SL AA Championship Strong with Home Win
The Virginia Beach Whales started the SL AA Championship in style today, downing the visiting Akron Blimps at Virginia Beach Grounds by a score of 6-5 to stake an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 series. Whales designated hitter Mark Wofford was named player of the game after he hit 2 home runs.

Paul Pitts contributed to the Virginia Beach win with a 3-run home run in the bottom of the eighth. For the game, the first baseman had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 3 RBI.

"What we get, we earn," Wofford told the Virginia Beach News.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow in Virginia Beach. Slated to start are Rob Butler for the Akron Blimps and Dan Carter for the the Virginia Beach Whales.
