Raucous Brass Field Crowd Propels Brass to 7-3 Victory; Series Tied at 2
|
The Baton Rouge Brass and the Syracuse Squirrel Monkeys will take the SL AAA Championship to a decisive 5th game. In a must-win situation today, the Brass beat the Squirrel Monkeys 7-3 at Brass Field to force the series into what will essentially be a one-game playoff. Baton Rouge right-hander David Flowers was named player of the game in the win after he threw 7 innings of 1-hit ball.
Alex Warner chipped in for Baton Rouge with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the fourth. For the game, the designated hitter had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 2 runs scored, and 2 runs batted in.
Flowers told a Baton Rouge Chronicle reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.
Game 5 is set to be played Sunday, September 27th, 2043. Slated to start are Deron Lewis for Baton Rouge and Luis Sastre for Syracuse.
