Crossbeaus Win, Move to Within 1 Game of Round 2
|
Riding the 3-hit performance of catcher Alex Johnston, the Beaumont Crossbeaus got a road win against the Twinsburg Tigers, 7-6, in Game 2 of the SL R Championship today. Johnston went 3-4 with a double and 2 singles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2 for the Crossbeaus, who now lead the best-of-5 series, 2 games to 0.
Beaumont used the timely hitting of Ai-de Lau to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Crossbeaus on top, 7-6. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Johnston said after the game.
Game 3 is set to be played Saturday. The scheduled starters for the game are Rob Anderson for the Twinsburg Tigers and Miguel Aguirre for the the Beaumont Crossbeaus.
