Road Win Lifts Beaumont to 1-0 Lead in R1
|
The SL R Championship got off to a quiet start today, with the traveling Beaumont Crossbeaus taking a low-scoring 2-1 win over the host Twinsburg Tigers. Beaumont right-hander George Atwater was marvelous at Dodge Field and was named player of the game. The Crossbeaus now hold a 1-0 lead in the best-of-5 series.
Beaumont used the timely hitting of Christian Karembeu to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put the Crossbeaus on top, 2-0. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"You never want to start a series with a loss, but I saw a lot of good things today," Tigers manager Morton Kelly said. "I'm not worrying. Yet."
The next game is scheduled for tomorrow at Dodge Field in Twinsburg. The scheduled starters for the game are Eugene Lusty for the Beaumont Crossbeaus and Micheal Ford for the the Twinsburg Tigers.
