Ojíto, Mockingbirds Wallop Bullets in Game of R1
|
Mississippi Mockingbirds manager Beau Carsten wasn't expecting much from the rookie playing in his first postseason. Maybe he should have been.
In front of a supportive hometown crowd today, 21-year-old right fielder Ricardo Ojíto humbled the visiting Baltimore Bullets at Magnolia Park. Ojíto belted 2 home runs. He drove in 6 runs and scored twice as the Mockingbirds shut out the Bullets by a final score of 12-2, to force a - tie in the best-of- Silver League Championship.
With the game tied, 1-1, in the bottom of the third, Ojíto had a key at-bat for Mississippi. With runners on 1st and 2nd, Ojíto, who is rated as the 19th best prospect by BNN, hit a 3-run home run off Gerald Orlebar, making the score 4-1, Mockingbirds.
"We're feeling good about this," said Mockingbirds manager Beau Carsten. "We have got an advantage now and we just need to keep the pressure on."
