Browns Slip Past San Mateo, 4-3
The San Mateo Dirty Reds got a superb performance from pitcher Ratko Davidovic. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Cleveland. The Browns won the game, 4-3. In spite of the loss, Davidovic was named the player of the game. He threw 7 innings of 3-hit ball. Yan van der Meijden, the winner, improved to 3-5. He held the Dirty Reds to 3 earned runs on 4 hits over 7.1 innings, while striking out 5 and walking 2. Cleveland has now won 4 games in a row.

Cleveland used the timely hitting of Pedro Durán to capture the win. The third baseman socked a 3-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Browns ahead, 4-3. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a big one.

"We came out on the wrong end of this one," said San Mateo skipper Dean Ashley.
