Getting an impressive start from Eugene Bell, Olympia beat Mercer Island by the score of 8-2. Bell went 5.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 5, and struck out 4. His record improves to 5-5. Tex Owens finished the game for Olympia and earned his 1st save.
Olympia used the timely hitting of Jorge Quintana to seize the win. The center fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put the Ogres on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We put it together today and came out with the win," Quintana said in postgame remarks. "That's the main thing."
Olympia is now 44-52. Mercer Island is 68-28.
