Gerardes Slugs Thunder to 5-3 Win

St. Petersburg and Chesapeake duked it out at Ghost Crab Park and the Thunder came out victorious.
A 4-RBI performance from Patrício Gerardes helped the St. Petersburg Thunder beat the Chesapeake Cangrejos Fantasmas, 5-3. Zhao-hui Li got the win, improving to 11-1. He pitched 5.2 innings, giving up 6 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 6 and walking 1. The save was credited to Benny Berry, his 20th.
It could have been a different outcome for St. Petersburg, had it not been for Jim Rigsby, the 26-year old third baseman . Rigsby contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the seventh inning to put St. Petersburg up, 5-3.
"We'll grab a cold one tonight and go after another win tomorrow," Rigsby said.
The Thunder saw their win-loss record go to 57-38. At the same time, the Cangrejos Fantasmas fell to 56-39.
