Screaming Eagles Nip Thunder Hawks, 8-7
|
Ft. Polk South third baseman Tora Tora had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Tora went 2-4 with a home run. He drove in 3 runs and scored once, even as Mercer Island beat the Thunder Hawks, 8-7. Tora was named the player of the game despite the loss. Mercer Island reliever Mike Barraza picked up the win, bumping his record to 4-2. Scott Richardson was collared with the loss. The first-place Screaming Eagles have their sights set on making a deep playoff run.
Jordan Hanley helped his team take an early lead with a 2-run single. It came in the first inning, making the score 3-0, Screaming Eagles.
"It was a nice win for our side today," said Screaming Eagles manager Jesús Román. "Not perfect, but we'll take it."
