Pilgrims Clip Fighting Imps in Tight Contest
|
Ithaca pitcher Armando González gave the Pilgrims all they could handle, but in the end, Providence left Field of Plenty with a 4-3 win. González allowed 4 earned runs on 4 hits over 7.2 innings. Jared Martínez earned his 1st save in 2 tries. Ithaca, at 28-61, has lost 7 straight.
Providence took a 3-1 lead in the bottom of the eighth inning. With one out, shortstop Enrico Castañera hit a 2-run home run that set the crowd abuzz.
"You get some opportunities, you better take advantage of them," said Ithaca manager Gary Thomas.
