The Screaming Eagles had to overcome a fine performance from Northville pitcher Raúl González to grab a 3-2 win at Old-Timers Park. González allowed no earned runs over 7.2 innings. Mercer Island goes to 63-26. The win puts them 10½ games up in their division.
Matabei Maeda aided the Mercer Island cause with a 2-run single in the top of the ninth. For the game, the first baseman went 1-4, while adding 2 RBI.
Maeda said afterward that the win gets the team one step closer to its goal.
