Cangrejos Fantasmas Roll to 8-2 Win Over Mariachis
|
The Chesapeake Cangrejos Fantasmas defeated the Nuevo Mexico Mariachis, 8-2. Earning player of the game honors was first baseman Joey Terry, who went 2-5 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. The winner was Jorge Cambeiro, who threw 90 pitches over 5.1 innings. The right-hander was charged with 2 runs on 3 hits. The third-place Cangrejos Fantasmas raised their record to 50-36.
Terry contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for Chesapeake in the bottom of the fifth. With his team trailing 2-1, Terry took a slider from Garrett Austin and stroked the home run to right. His 12th home run of the season allowed the Cangrejos Fantasmas to leap in front, 4-2.
"I just love going out and having a big game," Terry said when asked about being named player of the game. "It's an honor to have your talents recognized."
