Sixshooters Drop Another One

Mercer Island Screaming Eagles starter Kevin Gabriel turned in a top-notch performance against the Westwood Sixshooters at Sixshooters Stadium. The result was a win for the Screaming Eagles, 7-1. Gabriel, now 9-3, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 9, walking 1, and allowing 1 earned run. Bobby Dunn finished the game for Mercer Island and earned his 8th save.
Mercer Island relied on the hitting of Matabei Maeda to pick up the win. The first baseman clubbed a 3-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Screaming Eagles on top, 7-1. For the game, Maeda had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"I thought we were prepared," Westwood manager Juan Gusmán said after the game. "I thought we'd be more competitive out there."
This win makes it 5 in a row for Mercer Island.
