Ogres Reel Off Another Win
|
The Olympia Ogres topped the Mercer Island Screaming Eagles, 3-2, in USPL Double A action at The Ogre Den. The player of the game was Olympia pitcher and DeSoto, Texas native Forest Brewer. Tommy Moore earned his 8th save in 9 tries. Olympia has now reeled off 8 straight wins.
The Screaming Eagles had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Ogres going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 22-year old center fielder Roosevelt Cartledge came to the plate. Cartledge hit a run-scoring single on a first pitch forkball from Mercer Island hurler Kevin Gabriel. It was Cartledge's 83rd hit of the year.
Brewer told a Olympia Bulletin reporter that he was "more than satisfied" with the win.
