Streaking Screaming Eagles Win Another One
|
Mercer Island starter Greg King had a strong outing against the Providence Pilgrims at Field of Plenty. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 9-0 win. King, the winner, moves to 8-3. He threw 5.1 innings of 1-hit ball, while fanning 9 and giving up 4 walks. Keith Lynskey, credited with the save, is now 1 for 1 in save opportunities.
Mercer Island used the timely hitting of Trent Conner to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the second inning to put the Screaming Eagles on top, 3-0. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We're obviously playing with a lot of confidence," said Mercer Island manager Jesús Román.
The 6th-place Pilgrims have dropped 4 straight games.
