Chesapeake right-hander Otto Mathews made an effective start against the Nuevo Mexico Mariachis at Mariachi Band Shell, leading his team to a 6-2 win. Chesapeake currently is in third place in the Premier AA at 37-28.

Shi-xian Zhào broke a 0-0 tie in the top of the second with a run-scoring walk. It put the Cangrejos Fantasmas in front, 1-0. For the game, Zhào was 1 for 2 with a walk and was hit by a pitch.

"I still think this team has room for improvement," Mathews told the Chesapeake News.
