Flint Crush starter Joe Allen pitched a strong game against the Northwest Territory Beavers at Beaver Town, leading the Crush to a 2-1 win. Allen, now 7-5, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 8 hits, while striking out 2, walking 1, and allowing 1 earned run. Manny Martínez was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 7 of 10 save opportunities.
Flint used the bat of Piedade Regueir to get the win. The center fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the sixth inning to put the Crush ahead, 2-1. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it did its damage.
"That's the key at this level, throwing strike one," said Allen. "Successful pitchers do it."
Flint has now won 3 in a row.
