Harbor Whales Bump Off Shockers, 5-1
|
Greenport starter Noboru Kokawa had a strong outing against the Surprise Shockers at Shockers Field. The right-hander was a big part of his team's 5-1 win. Kokawa went 8.1 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 4, and struck out 6. His record improves to 2-8. Even with the win, the Harbor Whales have a dismal 24-55 record.
Greenport relied on the hitting of Mariano Cabral to pick up the win. The second baseman clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Harbor Whales on top, 2-0. For the game, Cabral had 1 home run and 1 single in 5 at-bats.
"You can't get too high when things go well, or too low when things go bad. Right now, I'm just happy we got the win," Kokawa told the Greenport Gazette.
