Beavers Fall to .500 After Loss to Shockers
|
The Surprise Shockers picked up a win at The Beaver Dam, knocking off the Ballard Beavers, 3-2. On the mound for Surprise was right-hander Scott Powell, who played a pivotal role in the win. Powell, the winner, moves to 5-7. He threw 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball, while fanning 4 and giving up no walks. The Shockers now own a record of 35-35.
Surprise used the timely hitting of Fred Simpson to capture the win. The shortstop socked a run-scoring double in the top of the third inning to put the Shockers ahead, 1-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was an important one.
"It was just a matter of executing," said Surprise manager Sake van Arem.
