Childress Shines in Shockers Win
|
The Maine Sea Dogs and Surprise Shockers brought some excitement to Sea Dogs Park.
The Surprise Shockers downed the Maine Sea Dogs, 8-4, at Sea Dogs Park. The Shockers were led by Tom Childress, who captured player of the game honors. He went 4-4 with 4 singles and a walk. He scored 3 runs. Surprise reliever Stephen Hollingsworth picked up the win, upping his record to 3-3. Cole Howard was saddled with the loss.
Childress had a game-changing single in the top of the eighth. On a 2-0 forkball from Cole Howard, he banged a run-scoring single to right-center, giving the Shockers a 5-4 lead. It was the 13th hit of the year for Childress.
Childress told a Surprise Herald reporter that he was "satisfied" with the win.
After today's action, Surprise sits at 27-31, while Maine falls to 32-26.
