Beavers Fall Short at Bompton
|
The Northwest Territory Beavers got a superb performance from pitcher Volmer Aalbers. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Bompton. The Baby Lakers won the game, 5-4. In spite of the loss, Aalbers was named the player of the game. He threw 6 innings of shutout ball. At 21-23, the Baby Lakers are currently 9th in the Menard's R.
Ahvo Holkeri was the walk-off hero for Bompton. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Baby Lakers first baseman hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
Despite the victory, Holkeri was prickly with assembled media after the game. He said only that he was "happy with the win."
