Baby Lakers Fall Short, 4-3, at Ballard
|
Ballard beat Bompton at The Beaver Dam, eking out a 4-3 win. The win was due in large part to pitcher Jimmy DeCourey, who earned player of the game honors. DeCourey picked up the win for Ballard, going 7.1 innings. He gave up 3 runs on 6 hits. He now sports a record of 4-0. The 7th-place Beavers have won 4 in a row.
Tom Steele aided the Ballard cause with a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the bottom of the sixth. For the game, the third baseman was 2 for 4 with a double.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Bompton skipper Pat Carrasco, "and it cost us."
