Fire Score Late, Stun Canucks, 3-2
|
The Franklin Fire faced a tough opponent in Moose Jaw pitcher William Robinson, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Foresters Stadium by a final score of 3-2. Robinson went 6 innings and allowed 2 earned runs. The save went to Gonzalo Barajas, his 1st this season. The Fire improved to a lofty 27-10.
Franklin used the timely hitting of Ji-hoon Ku to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Fire on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
Afterward, Fire manager Mark Davis was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
