Zoomies Lose, 6-2, at The Igloo
|
Ellesmere Island rode a good effort from starter Ken Jenkins to beat the Shady Side Zoomies at The Igloo. The final score was 6-2. Jenkins went 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 1, and struck out 8. His record improves to 5-3. Jorge Cestero converted his 8th save in 13 tries.
Ieremia Mohala had a big 2-run single for the Snowpeople in the bottom of the sixth inning. With Ellesmere Island leading 3-2 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from Gaspard Floris and stroked the single to center. It was his 25th hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Snowpeople ahead, 5-2.
"Good baseball players make you a smarter manager," said Ellesmere Island manager Rich Hunter.
The Zoomies, now 34-60, have lost 4 straight.
