Zuydam Stars for Beavers in 9-3 Win
|
The Northwest Territory Beavers beat the Surprise Shockers, 9-3, at Shockers Field. The Beavers got a fine performance from designated hitter Maik Zuydam, who captured player of the game honors. He was 3 for 4 with a triple, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3. River Rosa got the win, improving to 5-0. He pitched 5 innings, giving up 3 hits and 2 runs, while striking out 2 and walking 3. The second-place Beavers have won 4 in a row.
Zuydam came through with some timely hitting for Northwest Territory. With the score 1-1 in the top of the third and two down, Zuydam hit a full count slider for a run-scoring triple. His 3rd triple of the season made it 2-1, Northwest Territory.
"We did more than enough to get the win," said Zuydam.
