|
Bompton beat Ballard at Field of the Browns, escaping with a 8-7 win. The win in large part was due to second baseman Leonardo Valdéz, who earned player of the game honors. He went 2-5 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 2. The win was Gijsbert van den Hombergh's in relief. His record improves to 2-2. Cam Butler took the loss for Ballard. Bompton is now 12-11, while Ballard is 10-13.
Dave van Schaack tagged a home run off Cam Butler in the bottom of the 11th. His solo blast put the Baby Lakers on top, 8-7. In all, van Schaack had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 5.
"We swung the bats good throughout the lineup," said Bompton skipper Pat Carrasco.
