Shockers Pull Even With 3-1 Victory
|
The Surprise Shockers went home winners at Shockers Field, thanks in large part to starter José Pérez. Pérez silenced the Greenport Harbor Whales, enabling Surprise to grab the 3-1 win. Josh Rainey earned the save for Surprise, his 2nd of the year. The Harbor Whales, now 3-19, have lost 5 straight.
Tony Floyd had a big 2-run triple for the Shockers in the bottom of the first inning. With Surprise leading 1-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a cutter from Manny Guerra and stroked the triple to center. It was his 2nd triple of the season, and more importantly, it put the Shockers ahead, 3-0.
"When this team comes together and plays the way we can, we can compete with anyone," said Floyd. "I think we're going to keep proving that."
