Surprise right-hander Scott Powell was sensational in shutting out the Moose Jaw Canucks, 10-0. Will Fox earned the save for Surprise, his 1st. The Canucks, now 5-10, continue their poor start.

Surprise used the timely hitting of Fred Simpson to capture the win. The shortstop socked a 3-run home run in the top of the third inning to put the Shockers ahead, 3-0. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a big one.

"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Surprise manager Sake van Arem.
