Both teams had their opportunities, but in the end, the Quebec City Baby Blues got the win.
Quebec City turned a good effort from starter George Butler into a win over the Plattsburgh Puffer Fish at Plattsburgh Park. The final score was 4-2. Quebec City reliever Dave Henderson picked up the win, upping his record to 1-1. Don Lucas shouldered the loss.
Quebec City used the timely hitting of Jake Allen to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put the Baby Blues on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"This isn't football or hockey where you can overwhelm your opponents," Butler told the Quebec City News. "Everyone gets 27 outs and we happened to make the most of them."
The 7th-place Baby Blues are now 30-36, the Puffer Fish 34-32.
