Baby Blues Use Late-Game Magic to Beat Puffer Fish
|
The Baby Blues had to overcome a fine effort from Plattsburgh pitcher Mike Wheeler to grab a narrow 2-1 win at Plattsburgh Park. Wheeler went 6 innings and allowed no earned runs. Bill Lawrence recorded the save for Quebec City, his 11th of the season. Quebec City is 23-28 and Plattsburgh, with the loss, 25-26.
Quebec City relied on the bat of Matsusuke Saikawa to get the win. The first baseman ripped a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Baby Blues ahead, 2-1. For the game, Saikawa had 1 double and 1 home run in 4 at-bats.
"We found a way to get it done," Saikawa said.
