Rey Goes Off, But Baby Blues Win
|
Ellesmere Island left fielder Luis Rey had a terrific game, but it still wasn't enough to get his team a win. Rey was 3-4 with 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice, even as Quebec City beat the Snowpeople, 5-4. Rey was named the player of the game despite the loss. The win was Arlen Mata's in relief. His record improves to 3-1. Ray O'Morrisey took the loss for Ellesmere Island. Quebec City, at 21-26, occupies 8th place in the Silver R.
Had Casey Vincent not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and a runner on 2nd, Vincent hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 5-4, in favor of the Baby Blues.
"I was a little disappointed," said Ellesmere Island manager Rich Hunter. "We could've and should've scored more runs."
