Fort Knox Centennial starter Arturo Álvarez turned in a sterling performance against the Long Island Ducks, leading his team to a slim 3-2 win. Reliever Luis Gutiérrez picked up the win. His record improves to 2-5. Harvey Caldwell took the loss. With the win, Fort Knox has a record of 50-32. Long Island falls to 51-31.
Fort Knox used the timely hitting of Chin-seok Chong to seize the win. The first baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Centennial on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We had a good game plan," Álvarez said, "and we were able to execute it."
