Warheads Hang 5-3 Loss on Hounds
|
The Amarillo Warheads beat the Hicksville Hounds, 5-3, at Ballpark of Henderson. The Warheads got a fine performance from first baseman Gerald Riley, who captured player of the game honors. He went 4-5 with a double and 3 singles. He drove in 2 runs. Amarillo now sits at 17-42, while Hicksville falls to 23-36.
Soshal Distan Singh had a big 2-run single for the Warheads in the bottom of the fourth inning. With Amarillo leading 2-0 and the bases loaded, he got a slider from Chris Johnson and stroked the single to left. It was his 69th hit of the season, and more importantly, it put the Warheads ahead, 4-0.
"We put a lot of pressure on ourselves," Singh told a Amarillo Daily News reporter. "Sometimes we need just to relax."
