Flanderses Turn Back Hicksville, 3-1
|
Jimmy Young pitched well enough to win, but it was not to be. The Hicksville Hounds, despite Young's fine outing, dropped a 3-1 decision to the Hudsonville Flanderses at Hound Pound. Hudsonville reliever Wayne King was the winner. His record is now 1-3. The losing pitcher was Jimmy Young. José Torres closed it out for his 3rd save.
The Flanderses got a lift from first baseman Orlando Cochón who had a run-scoring sacrifice fly in the top of the sixth inning off Jimmy Young. It was his 25th RBI of the season and put Hudsonville in front, 2-1.
"I'm just looking for a good pitch that I can hit well," said Cochón. "And not try to do too much."
Hicksville's current losing streak has reached 6 games.
