Hounds Fall to .500 After Loss to Ducks
|
It was a fun time at Ducks Park, where the Hicksville Hounds and Long Island Ducks tangled.
The Hicksville Hounds got a superb performance from pitcher Jimmy Young. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Long Island. The Ducks won the game, 6-1. In spite of the loss, Young was named the player of the game. He threw 6 innings of 4-hit ball. Jerome Henderson, credited with the win, is now 2-1. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 3.2 innings. Getting the save was Bryan Lee, his 1st.
Danny Stone, not known for his power, had a big at-bat with no one out in the bottom of the sixth. That's when he connected on a cutter from Jimmy Young for a 2-run home run. His 5th home run of the season put Long Island in front, 2-0.
In postgame comments to the Long Island Today, Stone said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
Long Island now has a 3-game win streak.
