Venema Helps Amarillo Cruise to 12-3 Win
|
The Amarillo Warheads met little resistance from the Ladue Rams, beating them 12-3 at Ballpark of Henderson. Tomas Venema led the way. He went 4 for 4 with 4 singles and a walk. He scored 4 runs and drove in 2 for Amarillo. José Blanco earned the win to go to 2-3. He allowed 2 earned runs on 7 hits, with 1 walk and 4 strikeouts. Denzel Halford earned the save for Amarillo, his 1st.
Gerald Riley dealt the Rams a blow in the bottom of the fifth. Batting with runners on 1st and 2nd and Amarillo leading 3-2, Riley, who is rated as the 80th best prospect by BNN, hit a first pitch fastball for a 2-run double.
"It's nice to come out on top today," said Riley.
The Warheads now have a mark of 12-19.
