The Long Island Ducks downed the Hudsonville Flanderses, 4-3, at Hudsonville Park. The Ducks were led by Michizane Yamashita, who captured player of the game honors. He was 3-4 with 3 singles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI. Hudsonville is in the throes of a 11-game losing streak.
The Ducks beat the Flanderses in part due to timely hitting. Case in point: the two-out single Danny Stone produced in the top of the sixth. Batting against Hudsonville pitcher José Torres, Stone gave his team a 4-3 lead when he hit a run-scoring single.
"I felt good up there," said Stone. "I saw the ball well."
